On Friday, March 31, 2017, OTA Board Member, Diane Kriksciunas (see photo left),
was presented with the Government of Ontario “Leading Women Building
Communities” Award.
Soo Wong, MPP Scarborough-Agincourt (see photo right) and
The Honourable Maria Minna, P.C. Former Federal Member of Parliament &
Minister of International Cooperation, presented Diane with the Certificate of
Recognition and a congratulatory letter from the Minister of the Status of
Women.
The Leading Women/Leading Girls Building Communities
Recognition Program acknowledges and celebrates women and girls who demonstrate
exceptional leadership in working to improve the lives of others in their
communities through volunteer work.
Diane received the award for her contribution through tennis in both the North York and Scarborough communities, including her promotion and support of progressive tennis in community centres and elementary schools (including at Lynngate Junior Public school, where she is Principal). Diane joined the Board of Directors of the North York Tennis
Association (NYTA) in December 2009, and has served as President of the NYTA
from 2013 to 2017 and has also served on the Board of Directors of the OTA as
Chair of the North York region since 2013. She has been a member of the City of
Toronto Tennis Liaison Committee since 2014. Since 2015, Diane has also served
on the Executive Committee of the Scarborough Tennis Federation (STF).
